A Students' IQAC at Mar Ivanios College was informally inaugurated today by the Principal. The members to this body were nominated by the Faculty Advisors/ HODs of all the S2 and S4 batches of the FDP, and all the S2 batches of all PG programmes. The list of members can be accessed from HERE.

The IQAC organized a half-day seminar for teachers of the college today on the topic "The College and the IQAC". The seminar highlighted the role and functions expected of the IQAC by the UGC and the NAAC, and presented a summary analysis of the SSR for re-accreditation. The summary highlighted some of the ways in which the College could take quality measure relating to the criteria, and recommended the formation of Quality Circles based on the criteria to identify the focus areas in each criteria for prioritized action. The fifth meeting of the IQAC was held at 2.30 pm in the Conference Hall. The minutes of the meeting can be accessed from the MEETINGS page.
A joint Board of Studies - IQAC meeting was held today in the Mar Gregorios Conference Hall at 2.30 pm. The backdrop of the meeting was the suggestion made at the previous IQAC meeting to create guidelines for curriculum revision for the academic year 2015-16. The IQAC had created such a guideline and it was discussed with the Chairpersons of all the BoS in order to facilitate uniform processes for curriculum revision. The guidelines were accepted by the BOS with minor changes; the document is available on the POLICIES page.
The fourth meeting of the IQAC, and the first with the three external members, was held on Wednesday, 8 October. The meeting was exclusively meant to get the insights and suggestions of the external members. The minutes of this meeting is available on the MEETINGS page.
A follow-up meeting was also called on 13 October to discuss the main points of the previous meeting; the details of this meeting are also available in the minutes of the fourth meeting. The AQAR format for 2013-14 has been given to all HODs. A file to help the HODs in filling up the AQAR is available on the FACULTY PAGE or can be downloaded from here. HODs are expected to submit the departmental AQARs by 20 October 2014. The fourth meeting of the IQAC was held on 8 October 2014. It was the first meeting with the external members and was attended by the three external members, Dr John Kattakayam, Former Director, ASC, University of Kerala; Dr Kuruvilla Joseph, Dean, Student Affairs, IIST, Trivandrum; and Dr K M Francis, Former Principal of Mar Ivanios College. The seminar with Dr Gopakumar of Goa University could not be held due to technical reasons. It will be held at a later date.
The third meeting of the IQAC was held on 14 August; the minutes of the meeting is available on the MEETINGS page. The next meeting of the IQAC is scheduled for 3 pm on Wednesday, 8 October, 2014. Intra-IQAC discussions are in progress according to the re-accreditation criteria. Dr Roy and Fr Geevarghese Valiachangaveettil will be conducting an Infrastructure Audit; this will take into account basic infrastructure facilities and they will seek feedback from both staff and students. The audit is expected to be completed by 15 October. The IQAC is organising a half-day workshop for Faculty on Saturday, 16 August 2014 on "Building Your Own Website". The Resource person is Dr. Gopakumar V, Librarian, Goa University and the workshop will be from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. Members of the Faculty who intend to participate in the Workshop are kindly requested to register for it by sending their NAME as an SMS to 9447056445 (IQAC Co-ordinator). They are also requested to bring their laptops along as it is intended to be a hands-on training programme.
The Principal called a meeting of the convenors of student clubs at 3 pm today. The Co-Ordinator of the IQAC was invited to make a presentation on the guidelines for the activities of these clubs prepared by the IQAC. The guidelines are available on the POLICIES page
SANJU SAMSON MAKES IT TO TEAM INDIA AND MAKES MAR IVANIOS COLLEGE PROUD! CONGRATS AND ALL THE VERY BEST, SANJU! He was feted in the College today. The IQAC organized a half-day workshop on E-Learning for the faculty of the College on Saturday, 2 August. The resource persons were Mr. Laji Varghese of Mar Theophilus Training College, Trivandrum, and Dr. Satish Kumar, Dept of Future Studies, Kerala University.
The Principal also shared the format for the Evaluation of Teachers by Students with the members of the Faculty at a Staff Meeting. It was shared with them so that they would be aware of the criteria by which they would be evaluated. The format was prepared by the IQAC taking into consideration the sample formats of the UGC, and can be accessed from HERE. |
